Scholastic Clay Target Program

Wingmasters Sportsmen’s Club of Marathon will host an informational meeting for parents and students in grades 6-12 who are interested in participating in the national Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP).  Participants must be at least 12 years old to participate.  SCTP is a nationwide shooting competition that gives young adults the opportunity to compete in trap, skeet, or sporting clays for state and national titles, plus college scholarships and prizes.  The meeting, date & time TBA, will focus on the sport of trapshooting.  Parents must be present. Contact us for more information.

There has been tremendous interest in the Scholastic Clay Target Program throughout New York – as well as the nation – and we are introducing the program to interested students and their parents here in the CNY area.  Here at Wingmasters, we are excited about the possibility of fielding a championship team from our local area once again.  In 2002, we fielded the team that won the Junior Novice silver medal at the Grand American World Championships.  We truly welcome those interested in learning more.

The Scholastic Clay Target Program provides school-age participants with the opportunity to showcase their competitive shooting skills and earn state and national recognition.  The program is designed to instill in participants safe firearms handling, commitment, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork.

Parents interested in learning more about the program in this area can contact Lester Janke at (607) 849-6938 or at ljanke@frontiernet.net.  For more information on the Scholastic Clay Target Program, visit www.nssf.org/SCTP, contact the National Shooting Sports Foundation at (203) 426-1320, or e-mail sctp@nssf.org.  For information on Wingmasters Youth Shooting Sports Program, please go to www.wingmastersny.com.
